Cleanup Assistant User Guide
System info
This module gives detailed information about your computer's hardware and software.
Click an item in the treelist on the left to get details about a specific item.
Startup items
Gives a list of all programs that are loaded when your computer is started.
Click an item in the list to the left to retrieve details about the selected item.
Check/uncheck an item to activate/deactive it. Deactivated items are backed up and can later be reactivated.
Services
Lists all installed services and enables you to filter on running or stopped services.
Click an item in the list to the left to retrieve details about the selected item.
Start, stop or change startup mode below the detailspanel.
Scheduled tasks
Lists all tasks that are scheduled by your computer's OS.
Returns detailed information about each task, like filepath, description, product name, manufacturer, etc.
Click an item in the list to the left to retrieve details about the selected item.
Delete a scheduled task below the detailspanel.
Trash Cleaner
Scans your computer for unused junk files.
Click 'Change settings' to select what junk items you want CA to scan for.
Click 'Start scan now' to start scanning.
After scanning, check/uncheck the found items you want CA to delete.
Find duplicates
Find duplicate files in multiple folders.
'Add file' button : adds a single file to the list of items to be scanned for duplicates.
'Add folder' button : adds an entire folder to the list of items to be scanned for duplicates.
'Clear list' button : removes all items from the list.
'File types' button : allows you to filter on a specific type of file or file extension.
'Compare mode' button : allows you to select the comparison mode for finding duplicates.
'Find duplicates now' button : Starts scanning the given items for duplicates. This operation could take some time.
Rename files
Batch renames files.
'Add folder' button : adds an entire folder to the list of items to be renamed.
'Clear list' button : removes all items from the list.
'Rename options' tab : allows you to enter 1 or more replace jobs in filename and/or file extension.
'file extensions filter' tab : allows you to filter on 1 or more file extensions.
Search & replace
Searches and replaces text in text based files (txt, htm, php, asp, ...).
'Add folder' button : adds an entire folder to the list of items to be renamed.
'Clear list' button : removes all items from the list.
'Search & replace options' tab : allows you to enter 1 or more replace jobs in the file content.
'file extensions filter' tab : allows you to filter on 1 or more file extensions.
Find empty folders
Searches multiple given folders for empty subfolders.
'Add folder' button : adds an entire folder to the list of items to be scanned for empty folders.
'Clear list' button : removes all items from the list.
'Find empty folders now' : starts scanning the given items for empty folders.
'delete selected folders' : Deletes the selected found empty folders. This operation does not send items to the recycle bin but immediately deletes them.
Remove programs
Lists all installed applications sorted on size.
Click the 'Remove' button next to each listed application to uninstall the selected application.
Shred files or folders
Securely removes files and folders, making it impossible to recover data after removal.
Add files or folders by using the buttons below the screen or dragging them onto the list from windows explorer.
Wipe removable drive
Securely removes all files and folders from a removable drive and overwrites the complete drive with junk data, making it impossible to recover data after removal.
To wipe a drive, just select the drive from the list and click 'wipe selected drive'.
The list only shows drives connected to the computer.
Wipe free space
Overwrites free space on any drive with junk data.
Protects your privacy by making it impossible to recover previously deleted files.
To wipe a drive, just select the drive from the list and click 'wipe selected drive'.
Manage music
Scans your music library for duplicate files.
Renames audio files using patterns like (Artist) - Title.extension.
Moves files into a folder structure grouped by artist, album, title, year or decade.
Tag music
Lets you fill out missing tags in your music files in an easy to use grid structure.
Marks missing tags.
Saves modified tags automatically to files.
Find duplicate pictures, music, video or documents
Find duplicate files in multiple folders.
Filter on file types based on selected media type.
Specific comparison mode based on selected media type.
Smart selection of duplicate file copies.
Drive usage chart
Draws a pie chart for any gives drive based on the sizes of subfolders and files.
Includes free drive space.
Right-click chart to charts to png, svg, animated gif, and pdf file formats.
Folder usage chart
Draws a pie chart for any gives folder based on the sizes of subfolders and files.
Browseable : when clicking on a pie piece (subfolder), it redraws the chart for the selected folder.
Right-click chart to export to png, svg, animated gif, and pdf file formats.
Software usage chart
Draws a pie chart for the top 5 (10, 15, 20) largest installed applications based on the program size.
Browseable : when clicking on a pie piece (application), it allows you to uninstall the selected application.
Right-click to export charts to png, svg, animated gif, and pdf file formats.
Media Usage chart
Draws a pie chart for all media files found on your computer, based on file sizes and grouped by media type.
Browseable : when clicking on a pie piece (media type), it shows a list of all folders that hold files of the selected type.
Right-click to export charts to png, svg, animated gif, and pdf file formats.
This operation could take several minutes !
